Frequently asked questions
Every Ridge Rover Pack adventure is designed to give dogs a safe, structured, and enriching outdoor experience.
While every hike is slightly different depending on the trail and the pack, a typical adventure looks like this:
Morning Pick-Up
Dogs are picked up from their homes and safely transported to the day’s trailhead.
Trail Arrival & Pack Preparation
Before beginning the hike, dogs have time to settle in, hydrate, and get comfortable with the pack.
Guided Pack Hike
Dogs explore shaded mountain trails in a structured pack environment. Hikes include natural exploration, movement across varied terrain, and plenty of opportunities to sniff, climb, and experience the outdoors. Dogs remain leashed during hikes unless in designated off-leash areas.
Water & Rest Breaks
Regular stops ensure dogs stay hydrated and comfortable throughout the hike.
Return Home
After a day on the trail, dogs are transported home calm, content and fulfilled.
Owners can opt to receive updates so they know their dog had a great day on the trail.
Our hikes take place on dog-friendly trails throughout the Los Angeles area. Locations are chosen based on safety, weather conditions, and the needs of the pack.
Most hikes range between 3–5 miles or up to 5 hours of trail time, depending on terrain, weather, and the pace of the pack.
Yes. Dogs are picked up from their homes and transported to the trailhead for the day’s adventure.
Because trail locations, traffic, and pack logistics can vary, exact pickup and drop-off times cannot always be guaranteed. Dogs may be out for several hours while the pack completes their hiking adventure.
Pickup windows will be provided to help owners plan their day.
Packs are intentionally kept small (max of 4 dogs) to ensure safety, supervision, and the best experience for everyone.
Pack hiking is ideal for dogs who enjoy exercise, being outdoors, and spending time with other dogs. Every new dog goes through an evaluation process to ensure they are comfortable and safe in a pack environment.
Not every dog starts out ready for a pack hike — and that’s okay. For dogs who may not yet be ready for a group pack hike, Ridge Rover Pack offers individual hiking adventures and confidence-building outings designed to help dogs become more comfortable in outdoor environments.
These sessions focus on giving reactive or sensitive dogs the opportunity to explore the trail in a calmer, more controlled setting while building trust, confidence, and positive experiences outdoors.
Dogs who need extra attention or time to build confidence can join our Solo Adventure, a private one-on-one hike tailored to their pace and comfort level.
Your dog should wear a secure collar or harness. We recommend that dogs eat at least two hours before pickup to prevent stomach upset during activity.
Safety always comes first. In rare cases of unsafe weather conditions, extreme heat, or unsafe trail conditions, Ridge Rover Pack may cancel or reschedule hikes to ensure the safety of the dogs.
Because Ridge Rover Pack hikes are limited to four dogs per adventure, each reservation holds a valuable space in the pack. Last-minute cancellations make it difficult to fill that spot and may impact other clients waiting for availability.
For this reason, the following cancellation policy applies:
24-Hour Notice Required
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled hike to avoid being charged for the session.
Late Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled hike will be charged the full hike fee.
No-Shows: If a dog is not available for pickup at the scheduled time and the owner has not communicated with Ridge Rover Pack, the hike will be considered a no-show and will be charged in full.
Emergency Considerations:
We understand that unexpected situations can occur. Emergency cancellations may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Ridge Rover Pack adventures take place on natural mountain trails where dogs are encouraged to explore, climb, sniff, and enjoy the outdoors.
As a result, dogs may occasionally return home dusty, muddy, or slightly dirty depending on trail conditions.
Basic towel wipe-downs may be provided when needed, but full bathing or grooming services are not included with hiking adventures.
We recommend owners have a towel available at home if their dog is particularly sensitive to dirt or enjoys extra muddy adventures.
After all, a little trail dust is often the sign of a very good day.
